Our policy

When we get something wrong, we say so here — plainly, permanently, and in one place. Corrections are never silently edited away. Each entry records what we published, what was wrong, what the correct information is, and when we fixed it.

To report an error, open an issue on this project's public repository or contact the editor. Reports about records naming an individual are treated as urgent.

    /accountability/: Metro supportive housing (SHS) 10-year goals entry presented three-year totals as one year's results

    What we published: that Metro's FY2023-24 annual report (year three) states the program placed 6,086 households and prevented homelessness for 15,070 households "in that year." What was wrong: those are cumulative totals for the program's first three years, not year-three figures (year three alone was 2,803 placements and 3,127 preventions), and the placement count covers all permanent housing, not only the permanent supportive housing that the 5,000-household goal measures. What it now says: per Metro's FY2024-25 annual report, cumulative through year four (June 30, 2025), 4,887 households were placed in permanent supportive housing; 9,022 households were placed in permanent housing of all types, a broader count that is not the same measure as the supportive-housing goal; and 19,134 households were served with homelessness prevention. The corrected entry is withheld from /accountability/ until the editor re-verifies it. Found by internal review.
